Dream 08 || So Close to Reaching That Famous Happy End
Warnings: Spoilers for Day 7, Week 1, I suppose. Headcanon and then the mun taking a lot of liberties with the scene where Shiki was supposedly being sent back to the RG.
Effects: [Optional] At the beginning, there's hesitation, not wanting to leave Neku's side. It changes at the end where Shiki becomes desperate to stay behind.

Note: Backdated to during the blackout when Riku disappeared. Finally got around to doing this. XD;
They were back at the Scramble Crossing, back to where everything began. Even though the city was still bustling with life, from where Shiki was standing everything was in a standstill. For reasons she couldn't begin to fathom she won the Game even though Neku was way better in psychs than she was. She took one step backward and another, before fully turning the other way in order for her to walk to the other side of the street.
"What are you waiting for?" Neku's voice made her stop dead in her tracks and turn around to face him. "I thought you wanted to see Eri?"
"I..." Shiki faltered, dropping her gaze to the pavement bellow for a moment; her grip on Mr. Mew tightened. "Y-you'll be okay Neku, right?"
Neku heaved a heavy sigh before answering her. "Shiki..."
"U-um, find a really strong partner, okay? Work together and--"
"Shiki," An all too familiar glare shot from the redhead, making Shiki let out a squeak of surprise. Before the girl could protest, the expression on Neku's face suddenly softens. Was that a smile she's seeing? "Just go already. I'll be fine, alright?"
She couldn't help but gape a little before showing a smile of her own. It was just so rare to see Neku with that kind of expression. "O-okay, I'll go,"
And with that, a bright light gulfed her whole body, pulling her off the ground. It was strange but it didn't scare her in the slightest. She was finally going back to the RG. She released one arm holding Mr. Mew, reaching a hand out to him. He did the same.
"I'll wait for you, okay?"
"I know, Shiki,"
The light shone brighter, making her shut her eyes for a moment. When she opened them, she didn't see Neku being left behind in the UG. Those storm blue eyes turned into a bright shade of green. The orange shade of his hair became silver instead.
'No…'
She was too high up now, no chance of her going back to solid ground. Her hand reached out farther, in a feeble attempt to grab his hand.
'No! Let me go back! Please let me go back to him!!'
But it was no use. In a blink of an eye, Shiki Misaki already vanished. Never to be seen in the UG ever again.
Shiki woke up with a start, sitting up quickly and running a hand through her hair. There was a deep sense of foreboding induced by the dream. She hoped she was wrong. She really hoped she was. Her hand will suddenly feel the comforting warmth of his, his deep chuckle telling her that Riku will be there with her. But it never came, the other side of the bed was empty. Shiki shook her head, her fingers desperately looking for his touch.
"No…"
All she found from her search was the Crown necklace he had. Her heart tightened, this was just all too familiar. She didn't realize it at first but tears were threatening to spill from her eyes. After putting the necklace around her neck, Shiki rubbed her eyes furiously, willing them to stop falling. She crawled to his side of the bed, checking if he left anything else behind.
"A letter?"
Quickly, she made a grab for it. Even though it was too dark to see, Shiki read it. She read through it once, twice, but it didn't help with the pain that was spreading from her chest. Finally the tears she was holding in fell when she blinked her eyes.
"Riku, no. No!" Why?

"Riku, no. No!" Why?

Nah. It comes with the territory. You got to take a risk to have fun, right? It applies in this situation too.
no subject
Even if there's a strong chance of getting your heart broken again?
[Like right now? Oh man. She'll never catch a break with this sort of thing, huh?]
no subject
Though all I can say is that you win some, you lose some. But if you've got a little life kicking in ya, nothing's stopping you from trying again.
[Applying his rules for fun (read: putting his life on the line for gun battles) here. Hopefully it works.]

I don't think I'm ready to try again yet...

[A more genuine laugh escapes her.]
I won't. Thank you.
no subject
It's nothing. But good. Like I said, pretty girls shouldn't cry.

[Sooob. Will no one ever stop making her all flustered in this place? Although she is pretty easy to rile up XD orz
The Dreamberry slips from her hand, her fingers accidentally brushing against the keys and accidentally sending this to Boris' Dreamberry.]
shdjfjahdjffassh;;'
[And she catches it before it crashed into her bed. Phew! That was close.]
Ack! S-sorry! Sorry!
no subject
Not a problem. Your reaction was worth it.
no subject
Heeeeey! [Good thing it's pretty dark or Boris would've seen the blush on Shiki's face.] Not funny, cat boy!
no subject
I'd say it's very funny! What a weird way to take a compliment.
no subject
[POUTS. GDIT BORIS. Can't really tell him right now why she reacted that way. Shiki can't exactly go, "This isn't my real body! Of course I'd take it like that way!"]
Hmph. I have my reasons.

I'm not so sure if you're going to believe me, Boris...

['Cause 1.) She's technically dead and 2.) The Reapers' Game always makes things complicated for its Players.]

[Filtered from here on out]
I'm... not in my real body, Boris.
no subject
Not bad! My turn.
I lack a heart. [And he points approximately where his heart should be.] Nothing there. Just a clock and it goes tick tock tick tock until my time's all but run out.
1/2
No heart, huh? Ok--
no subject
[She's kind of gawking at you Boris for a moment before speaking again.]
... You're alive. How...?
no subject
I dunno. Am I really alive? It's up for debate. I mean, I don't die like a normal person. I'm replaceable.
[... saying all this with a grin as if it's common sense. And to him, it is.]
1/2
[That sort of hits a little too close to home.]
Wha...
no subject
You say that like... like you're not worth anything, Boris.
no subject
But here, I guess... [Yeah, he can't say anything. His definition of normal still varies.]
Eh. It doesn't matter. For Alice and Chii, I'll be good. Because if I die, then I won't be able to see them anymore. And that'd be... bad.
